BAMPTON 1 v 2 Charlbury Town

Nice day today, sun shining, good football to watch, pity about the result.

We know Charlbury are a good side, we know they are competitive, and they didn't disappoint today. It was a competitive game where they showed more desire than us too often. That won the game for them. .

We played some nice stuff, particularly in second half. Hopefully we can get more along to training this week so we can work on a few things a bit more. At times in second half we were passing it around lovely, creating space and ultimately chances. .

Alfie scored a great goal from a clever build up, with final defence splitting pass from Angus. We have been working on being a bit more patient in build up at times, waiting for openings rather than forcing it, and when we did this we create. .

Another great cross pitch ball from Angus found Lachy who unleashed a beautiful volley, only for their keeper to pull off a world class save, diving full stretch to his left to tip it over the bar. A great corner from James found Jack leap like a salmon to meet the ball lovely, his header going just over. .

Another threw ball found Zack racing in, sliding to try and get a toe to the ball to turn it round the keeper, sadly it was just out of his reach. .

So a close game, their goals were both quite scrappy, especially their second just before half time when we should have cleared it. .

But we go again next week, still all to play for, especially after Hooky drawing with Ducklington today.

Man of the Match

Jack Childs

I thought Jack had his best game for us today. Solid defensively and some nice passes coming forward showing great composure. Pity his header didn't find the net as this would have finished off a great performance
