25-11-17 Carterton v BAMPTON

Carterton 5 - 1 Bampton

Great match today. I thought we were brilliant. Every player battled and fought and played with skill and intelligence.

Pretty even first half with both teams creating chances.I think Carterton slightly edged it and deserved their 1 - 0 half time lead.

We spoke at half time about getting in about them a bit quicker and being stronger on the ball, which we did and for the first time in all our games v Carterton, we were out muscling them.

The equaliser was inevitable and I was pleased when we finally broke through and scored.

1 - 1 ten minutes to play. Wave after wave of Bampton attacks saw Carterton hanging on. Could we break them down. The ball broke to us in the box and a fantastic volley was goal bound. There keeper produced a fantastic save to keep Carterton in the match.

Pushing for the winner left us open authentic back which, unfortunately, the strong direct play of the opposition took advantage of.Four late goals flattered the score line in Carterton's favour.

I am so proud of all the boys today and shows how funny a game football can be.

Man of the Match

Toby Hickman.

We had many stand out players today. Angus had his best match so far for us, James fought and played some great football, Zack jinked and ran and on another day would have scored any number of goals. But I think Toby was outstanding today. He is so confident and assured in goal. He uses the ball intelligently and pulled off some great saves.
